Scoota Users GuideInroductionOnce you start Scoota you will see the Ogre redering setup window. In case you are wondering what Ogre is, it was a library used to build Scoota, you can read more at their website: Ogre. You can play with these settings, they are machine dependent and some experimentation will be required to see what works best on your machine.
Ogre Engine Rendering Setup Once you have decided on settings hit "OK" and the following window will appear:
Scoota Render Window Click on the "Select Group" pull down menu and select "General". Now click on the "Select Mesh" pull down and select whatever mesh strikes your fancy. Place the cursor anywhere on the ground and hold down the left mouse button. You can move the mesharound until you release the left mouse button at which time it will be placed. You can then move it through the controls in the upper right of the scoota window. Some of the meshes need to be scaled up and some moved up in the "Y" direction. SocketsIn the upper right is the host. If you are connecting from the same machine use "localhost". If you are connecting over a network use the IP address. The socket number is next to the host. 50007 should work, but it has to match the number from the "server". SyntaxThe socket messages sent to scoota should be strings with five entries seperated by commas.
ModelsYou can make your own meshes wich will apear in the "Select Mesh" pull down if you put them in the following directory: "install directory"\osengineer\Scoota\Media\models Tools for converting models can be found here: http://www.ogre3d.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=413&Itemid=133 If you don't use any of those tools you can use blender, it is free. Or you can pay me to create them ( we all have to make a living) e-mail |
